NONPROFIT  RETROFIT

Reduce your energy bills with our (mostly) free retrofit workparties.

In a social atmosphere, experts provided a hands-on learning experience to your volunteers who then complete simple, yet impactful energy retrofits.

TIMELINE

  1. EWA performs an energy audit
  2. We present a workplan to nonprofit administrators
  3. You approve work to be done
  4. Workparty scheduled
  5. Volunteers install retrofits
  6. Final report lists improvements and next steps

In our pilot, all steps were achieved in less than 2 months, resulting  in a potential $4,400 in savings for the nonprofit.

TOPICS COVERED:

  • Biggest energy uses
  • Energy efficiency strategies
  • Training in the tasks for the day
  • Why these tasks were chosen
  • How to access local incentives for home energy retrofits

Volunteers experience the step-by-step process of DIY energy-saving solutions, including air sealing, insulation, thermostat programming, and behavior changes through demonstration. Then they apply the retrofits themselves!

WHY RETROFIT NONPROFITS?

We help nonprofits in Louisiana achieve their exempt purpose by operating more efficiently with their limited resources. Other than the utility bill, there's few expenses that nonprofits can cut without cutting programming quality as well.

Our program slashes nonprofit utility bills, using donated materials, volunteer labor, and monitoring.

The ripple effect for the participants is exciting, too.  In a similar program in Massachusetts, up to 70% of participants at the nonprofit workparty also applied this new knowledge to their own home.
